Our CCD program is in need of TWO teachers for this year. We need a 6th grade AND and an 8th grade teacher. Our program is mostly parent-led, but we do need catechists for only TWO Wednesdays each month, to teach lessons to our students during our family sessions. If you are interested, please contact the church office ASAP or contact Nicole Michalke at 979-743-5617. Help spread the word...! It's a great ministry, sharing the Good News of Jesus with our children!!

In consideration of the public health concerns caused by the spread of COVID-19, Bishop Cahill dispensed the faithful of the Diocese of Victoria from the obligation to physically attend Sunday Mass through August 31. Last week, Bishop Cahill extended this dispensation through September 30, 2020. Click the headline to read his full statement.

We are planning to livestream our parish’s First Communion Mass Sun Aug 23 at 12 Noon on our parish Facebook page for anyone who wishes to watch, since the attendance will be limited to the students and only 2 family members each. The Mass can be watched live, or will be available for viewing afterwards. We have not been able to test the setup in a Mass setting, so we are hoping that the signal will provide a quality viewing experience. If needed, we will post a higher-quality version of the recording later in the day.
First Confession will be held on Saturday 8/22 at 9 am in church. First Communion will be this Sunday 8/23, at a special 12 Noon Mass. Due to social distancing limitations, only the students and TWO parents or family members will be permitted to attend. PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO SPANISH MASS THIS WEEKEND.
Our parish sends our prayers and best wishes to Father Felix Twumasi, our Parochial Vicar, on his birthday today (August 4th). Although he is currently ministering to COVID patients in the Victoria area, let us all keep him in our hearts and prayers.
We are pleased to report that our pews are (finally!) back in church, and they look beautiful!!! Please note that the kneelers are on order and should be received and installed in the next 2-3 weeks. We thank God for bringing us back into His Church.
Bishop Cahill has extended the dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass through August 31st. Furthermore, he asks each parish to continue being vigilant about controlling the spread of COVID-19. He addresses the parishioners and states that if a parish priest wants to require a face mask to attend Mass, then he will honor that decision. Everyone is strongly urged to wear a mask for protection. Let us all do what we can to stop the spread of the virus, while keeping our dependence on God and His divine providence. Let us love one another as Christ loves us and let us keep each other in prayer.
Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the Victoria, Port Lavaca, and surrounding hospitals, Father Felix Twumasi has been appointed the temporary hospital chaplain for the Victoria Deanery. He will begin his service, effective Wednesday, July 22, as the diocesan sacramental minister for those hospitalized and suffering from COVID-19. We are grateful for Father Felix’s willingness to serve in this capacity and to minister to God’s people who are ill and suffering from this virus. He will reside at Holy Family Catholic Church rectory in Victoria, for the duration of his service in this capacity. If need arises for a COVID-19 patient to be anointed, in a hospital other than in Victoria or Port Lavaca, Father Felix will be available to celebrate the anointing, should a pastor have a preexisting health condition or is at an age when he believes he should not engage in such pastoral situations.
GOOD NEWS: Our refurbished pews are BACK, and getting installed in the church starting this week (July 20th). BAD NEWS: We cannot use the church for Mass until August 1st. Daily Masses will be held in the Family Life Center meeting room, and weekend Mass for 7/25-7/26 will be held in the School Gymnasium. The capacity for Mass in the FLC is only 18 attendees, while the gym can accommodate 120 attendees. Please check this page or our Facebook page for updates as installation progresses.
Please note that Bishop Cahill has extended the dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass for Catholics in the Diocese of Victoria until June 30, 2020. This is to protect the physcial health of the vulnerable and the emotional needs of those who are uncomfortable with being physically present at this time regarding COVID-19.
Some of you have been taking advantage of virtually “attending” daily Mass by watching the video on our website, put out by Word on Fire. However, there will no longer be daily Mass broadcasted from Bishop Barron’s chapel, as of June 2nd. We are removing the video feature from our parish website as it will no longer be updated. For more information and suggested daily Mass options, click the heading.
St. Rose School had to cancel their March fundraiser gala due to the pandemic, so they are holding an online silent auction this week. Click the picture to the left to view items and bid. The auction closes Monday, May 25th at 8 pm. Please help spread the word. If you have any questions please contact Erin Brown, Casi Wilbanks, Holly Czimskey, or Kristin Dees. Thank you for supporting St. Rose School!
St. Rose Church is pleased to be allowed to celebrate Mass with a congregation, for the first time in eight weeks, starting this weekend. We will resume our normal Mass schedule: Saturday 5:00 pm, and Sunday 7:30 am & 10:00 am. Please click the picture or the headline to read the guidelines for attending Mass during this time, as we have to follow restrictions set by the State of Texas and the Diocese of Victoria.
We are sad to announce that St. Rose Church is cancelling our June 14th picnic due to the pandemic. However, we are planning to have a fundraiser on that date which will include a drive-thru dinner. A sweepstakes drawing will also take place and a picnic donation envelope will be available. We are looking to see what additional activities we can incorporate. There will be a planning meeting on Tuesday, May 5th at 6:00 p.m. at the Family Life Center to discuss the June 14th fundraisers. If you have suggestions, please attend the meeting or contact the parish office.
